Fire Performance Training

Course #1: "Fire Staff"

Rotational Fire Staff Manipulation is a fire performance technique where the performers hands and fingers are used to manipulate the direction and movement of the fire staff.

Course #2: "Fire Poi"

Poi is a popular fire performance tool and is usually what hooks people into the beauty of flow arts with its history of creating geometric patterns while in use.

Fire Performers Special Events

We are excited to announce the change in format for Sweetdale Night Market from September 2025.
We have absolutely loved hosting markets for the last three years and believe that now is the right time to diversify – for the better of our vendors and customers!

From September 2025, there will no longer be a monthly market held consecutively throughout the year. Instead, we will be holding the same market we all know and love on key dates positioned throughout the year.
We are confident that with this strategy, our customers and vendors will both enjoy and benefit from the market going forward.
August 2025 will be our last monthly market. The next markets will be 19th & 26th December 2025. More market dates to be announced in the New Year.
In 2026 we are excited to add a variety of additional events for special dates featured in the calendar (Easter, Heritage Day and many more!)
We look forward to welcoming this fresh new approach and thank you for your ongoing support of Sweetdale Night Market 🔥
Best wishes, The Sweetdale Night Market Team

Community Practice Sessions – South Coast Beaches – Uvongo

The aim of our practice sessions at Uvongo Beach is to give back to our local community and get people involved in a healthy alternative form of meditation, focus and discipline through flow arts – fire performance.

The practice sessions bring members of our team together after a long work week, usually on the first two Friday’s of the month and we provide community lessons and coach individuals who are interested in what we do with the basics of fire tool manipulation.

We aim to increase the exposure of our local gathering on Uvongo Beach and give more back to our community with these practice sessions, not only is Flow Arts a healthy and relaxing activity but it is also proven to help with hand and eye-coordination!

While giving out these free community lessons, we are also presently open to recruitment of individuals who are interested, committed and disciplined to learn the art.

The Margate is Magic Mardi Gras project

The Margate is Magic Mardi Gras project is a wonderful initiative by our local community and we are glad to be a part of it. The Mardi Gra is a night market during peak-season times in Margate Beach. The event brings locals and holiday-makers alike together to experience a fun and eventful evening.

From local vendors on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast of South Africa, that produce arts & crafts, paintings, food & drinks, local jewellery and a whole collection of other local goodies, we also have live music on these fantastic nights out, usually accompanied by some karaoke from the busy crowd!

The event takes place during season times usually on public holidays, school holidays and December holidays. Margate Beach is packed with action, lights, people and local crafters who make the evening one to remember.

The KZN South Coast Fire Performance Team usually attends these events and performs for the heart of Margate. Providing quality entertainment to our local community and our visitors. Vendors set up in the streets of Margate while the road is closed off and people explore the market accomplished by music and live entertainment from the Fire Performance Team, and sometimes, if we are lucky enough, Belly Dancers, Clowns and other wonderful forms of entertainment!

Be sure not to miss the next one and keep an eye on our social pages to keep up to date.
